BUYING A "KIT" LOG HOME
(INCLUDING SOME COMMENTS FROM MEMBERS)
IN SKIP'S SEMINAR, PEOPLE LEARN THREE IMPORTANT THINGS, AS FOLLOWS;
1. HOW TO BUILD AN EXCELLENT LOG HOME FROM SCRATCH
-- VERY
INEXPENSIVELY -- USING "REAL" LOGS THAT ARE PURCHASED FROM A
LOGGER OR A SAW-MILL.
2. HOW TO PURCHASE A "KIT’ LOG HOME -- WITHOUT GETTING CHEATED.
3. HOW TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A "GOOD"
KIT LOG HOME -- AND A
"BAD" KIT LOG HOME.
Ironically, almost exactly the same knowledge about log homes is required to do ANY of the above.
Obviously, before you make a commitment to purchase a "kit" log home, you should learn as much as possible about log homes in general. Otherwise, it would be difficult for you to determine which log homes are "good" and which ones are "bad."
Kit log homes are generally much more expensive than "normal" frame homes. Therefore, if you purchase a "kit" log home it might be the largest socio-economic investments you ever make.
You will probably need to make a large down-payment -- and large monthly payments for the next thirty years.
In my opinion, becoming a slave to a 30 year mortgage would be one of the dumbest things you could possibly do -- especially if you have the option of building a "mortgage free" log home.
Skip’s seminar is the only way I know of where you can learn everything you need to know about log homes in a short period of time -- so you can make an intelligent decision regarding the following;
1. Which type of log home is the strongest ??? (and why).
2. Which type of log home will last the longest ??? (and why).
3. Which type of log home will be the easiest to build ??? (and why).
4. Which type of log home will be the best financial investment ??? (and why).
Obviously, any mistake regarding log homes can be a very
expensive mistake.

VIA NOTES FROM MEMBERS
"In my opinion, most of the builders who are any good will generally not build homes for someone else. They will only build homes for themselves -- and then sell the homes when they are finished. This saves them the aggravation of dealing with the general public, AND also they make more money than by they do when building under contract."
"Unfortunately, we don’t know of any commercial builders in your area that are building REAL log homes – instead of "kits."
"Because you are a single lady, and in your 50’s, we strongly recommend that you learn a lot about log homes before you buy one, OR have one built, OR build one yourself."
"If you don’t know what you are doing, you can make a very expensive mistake – a mistake that it might take you 30 years to pay for."
"On the other hand, if you learn a few things about log homes (A. How to build them properly B. How to tell good ones from bad ones) then it is possible to end up with a very inexpensive home – and one that will last a long time."
"We strongly recommend that you attend a good log home building school before you build or buy a log home – so you will know what you are doing."
