Many of our students are interested in building a log home or log cabin in a remote area that is not serviced by traditional energy such as electrical power lines, natural gas lines, etc. Of course it is very common to connect a log home to such energy supplies, but if you want to you can use alternative energy instead.
Here are some notes on a few types of alternative energy that are available and can easily be adapted to your new log home.
Since log homes (that have been built the right way) are highly energy and heat efficient due to their thermal mass, you may find that a log home is the perfect choice for remote, alternative energy living.
