Exceptional Log Homes Award - Jeff Cooley

"The Modern Day Lodge"

Page 1 2 3 4

Jeff Cooley took our class in 1991 and built this awesome log home in 1994. He had a full-time job while he was building, but he finished it in less than a year -- working all by himself. Nearly everything in the home was built with Jeff's own hands, including the custom metal work throughout. Working with metal is a hobby of Jeff's, so he also built a two story, 2000 square-foot post and beam garage for his metal working equipment and other toys.

Jeff reports that the shell of this home was built in just five weeks.

The house features granite counters, a hot tub, a custom outdoor barbeque, a home theater room with projection system and tiered seating, and some of the most beautiful landscaping we've seen. There are also lots of patios and decks to enjoy the outdoors. Some of the patios are covered, some are open.

Jeff is now offering this log home for sale. You can visit the listing for this log home in Gig Harbor, Washington if you are interested.

Disclaimer: The Log Home Builders Association is not affiliated with the owner or agent offering this home. We do not benefit in any way if this house is sold, and we would refuse any such benefit if it was offered to us. We only include this home here because it is a beautiful, well-built log home.

Congratulations to Jeff Cooley -- 2006 Exceptional Log Home Award winner!

The back yard (above and below). The landscaping is beautiful, and since the house was built with local wood species, it blends right in.

Jeff added the carport (above) after the house was completed to store more of his toys. Jeff is an avid jet skier as well as a metalworker.

Jeff built this small shed (above) before he went on to build the house. He wanted to test the methods that he learned at our class, as well as practice building. Shortly after finishing the shed he started building his log home.

If you liked the outside of the house, you won't believe what's on the inside...
