The Sherrodds built the center island from wood that was leftover during construction, so it feels like it really belongs here, and it is absolutely beautiful.
Here you can see a beautiful custom copper countertop. The counter was made from more leftover construction wood, then it was wrapped it in copper sheeting. It came out perfectly, and cost a fraction of what a copper counter would normally cost.
If you can be creative like this, you can build a log home for a fraction of what everyone else spends. And (as you can see) there is no reason to cut back on extravagant details. Excellent work, Mark & Lisa!
The Sherrodds also built the plate rack (above the sink). Because they built it themselves, they were able to incorporate the Scandinavian pattern that Lisa designed.
