And here are a few more random pictures from around the lodge.
Tim and Mary built this outbuilding to accommodate parties, weddings, etc...
Tim built all of the doors at both his home and the lodge himself. He learned how to do this from a trick we still teach in class. Below you can see a beautiful, solid wood door that he built very easily from scrap wood leftover during construction. If you were to pay retail for a door like this it would probably be well over $1000.
And for the curious, here's a picture of Tim & Mary's private residence, the first log home they built. They had so much fun building the first two log homes, they plan to start building their third this summer, along with their two daughters. They say that building a home is a great family activity, and a good skill to pass on to their children.
Wallace Falls Lodge is open year-round and is a stones-throw from excellent hiking, fishing and skiing. We highly recommend staying there if you are in the neighborhood. We expect that many of our students will stay at the lodge when they come to town to take our class, to meet up with other members and spend the weekend in a genuine "from scratch" log home. If you would like to reserve a room, go to the Wallace Falls Lodge website.
